Quality Matters (QM) is a rigorous quality assurance process in creating course designs for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses. QM has 8 key rubric standards they follow:

  1. Course Overview and Introduction
  2. Learning Objectives (Competencies)
  3. Assessment and Measurement
  4. Instructional Materials
  5. Learning Activities and Learner Interaction
  6. Course Technology
  7. Learner Support
  8. Accessibility and Usability

Information about Creating Course Design with QM

Your course can go through an internal and external review process by following the below steps:

The Process

Step 1

Request

  1. Request to register with QM for an internal review
  2. Complete the below QM training on the QM rubric
    1. Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) workshop

Step 2

The Process

  1. Once the workshop is completed, our LT team member will contact you with a Welcome email
  2. LT member will send you:
    1. Course Worksheet 
    2. Course Map
  3. Your course will then go through an internal review just like QM

Step 3

Course Revisions

  1. Your LT will communicate with you changes that can be made to improve the course
  2. You will consider revisions discussed with LT
  3. The final internal discussions/revisions will be made

Step 4

Submission to QM

  1. Your course will then be submitted to QM for an external review
  2. The external review may take up to 6 months to process
