The University of Maryland School of Nursing’s Curriculum Committees meet monthly to review and approve all proposals for curriculum additions, eliminations, and major and minor revisions.
To submit proposals for new courses, major or minor revisions to existing courses, or elimination of existing courses for inclusion on future Curriculum Committee agenda(s), please:
- Reference the definitions below to determine the nature of the course proposal.
- Reference the Submission Deadline Requirements below to determine when proposals for new or major revisions can be available to students to register.
- Visit the UMSON Intranet and see the content under Courses, Specialties, and Certificates to review the guidelines and flowchart and download and complete the appropriate Proposal for Introduction, Change, or Elimination form.
- Draft a Word document responding to the Checklist on the last page of the Proposal for Introduction, Change, or Elimination form.
- Submit proposals for new courses, major revisions, and eliminations to the department chair(s) and associate dean(s) for review and approval to proceed.
- Contact the respective academic program office, listed below, and include the Proposal for Introduction, Change, or Elimination form, the Word document responding to the checklist, and the syllabi. A team member will respond and provide available dates to present your proposal and information required to attend the meeting. Proposals that apply to one or more programs must be reviewed and approved by all committees, as appropriate.
