Clinical Simulation Labs: State-of-the-art facilities where health care students develop their clinical decision-making skills in a controlled, life-like environment that poses no risk to patients.
Within our Clinical Simulation Labs, students and practitioners gain vital experience by participating in realistic clinical case scenarios with faculty guidance. The practice of simulation-based health care education is advanced through a program of research with the ultimate goal of making health care safer for patients.

The 22 different lab rooms are designed to replicate realistic practice environments, including:
- Hospital
- Critical care
- Operating room
- Pediatrics
- Maternity
- Home care
- Health assessment settings
Clinical Simulation Labs at the Universities at Shady Grove
The Universities at Shady Grove operates three floors of labs that are used to replicate clinical practice settings, including:
- 7 large multifunctional skills labs (that mimic realistic practice environments)
- 1 5-bed hospital suite and 3 additional hospital rooms
- 8 Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) Rooms with an adjoining observation room
- designated debriefing space
- simulated apartment (for home visits)
The Clinical Simulation Labs support encounters involving manikins and standardized participants.
