Office of the Academic Deans

The Office of the Academic Deans supports the academic mission of the school.

We collaborate with UMSON and UMB departments, providing a critical support structure for enriching the overall student experience.

Our programs include:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
• Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
• Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
• Graduate Certificates

The academic affairs managed by the office include:

• Curriculum development and implementation
• Coordination of admissions processes and support
• Ensuring the integrity of each student's academic experience to include monitoring student progress
• Fostering accreditation and certification elements related to student success
• Initiatives pursuant to and in compliance with the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB), University System of Maryland (USM), the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), and the Maryland Board Of Nursing (MBON) reporting requirements
• Data collection and response to national ranking, peer assessment, and workforce surveys

Consistent with strategic goals, the associate deans provide interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary leadership and report to the dean.

The Office of the Academic Deans interfaces with the Office Student and Academic Services, including the Office of Admissions and Student Scholarships, the Office of the Registrar and Student Placements, and the Office of Academic and Career Success. For the PhD program, the office works closely with the UMB Graduate School in issues of student admission, progression, advisement, and graduation.
