Strategic Engagement and Impact

The Office of Strategic Engagement and Impact supports the School's mission and strategic goals, as well as the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s mission, vision, and core values. This office aims to enhance the School's visibility, its influence, and its impact on the field of nursing and in health care by building nurse leaders for a resilient world. 

The Office of Strategic Engagement and Impact offers:

• individual and departmental support in relationship and community building using  restorative practices
• professional development programs and initiatives
• resources to support integrative and innovative thinking for strategic engagement
• strategic opportunities for collaborative engagement across UMSON’s mission of education, research, and practice
• advocacy in developing skills to support professional and personal growth for students, faculty, and staff.

For seven years in a row, INSIGHT Into Academia magazine has selected UMSON to receive the annual Health Professions Higher Education Excellence and Distinction (HEED) Award, the only honor recognizing U.S. and Canadian health schools and centers that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to fostering access, ensuring success, and building welcoming campuses.

Additionally, UMSON's Booked for Lunch Club was named a recipient of the magazine’s 2020 Inspiring Affinity Group award.
