Weekday Immersion in Nursing Informatics (WINI)

Overview

WINI is a nursing informatics continuing education course offered at diverse national and international locations to provide affordable, in-depth nursing informatics education. WINI focuses on basic competencies in nursing informatics.  WINI provides an opportunity to have guided discussion and education in a variety of informatics topics including:

Objectives

At the completion of the conference, participants will be able to:

  • Identify current professional practice trends and emerging issues facing the nursing profession
  • Discuss theories used in nursing informatics
  • Analyze the human factors that affect nursing informatics
  • Identify methods of managing information and databases
  • Plan for implementation and support of a computer system
  • Review essential information about computer systems, their functions, and basic terminology related to hardware and software
  • Discuss systems testing and evaluation techniques
  • Review test-taking strategies for taking the ANCC Certification Exam

Successful Completion for Nurses

This program offers a total of 18.0 continuing nursing education (CNE) hours. To receive CNE hours, you must demonstrate completion of this educational activity by attending 95 percent of the accredited sessions, and completing the evaluation survey, and verification of attendance form provided in your packet. Partial credit is not awarded for this program. The University of Maryland School of Nursing will email a CNE certificate to participants who meet the criteria stated above.

The University of Maryland School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
