Clinical Scholars Program
The Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Maryland School of Nursing is an innovative scholarship opportunity for talented nursing students supported by outstanding health care institutions in Maryland and the greater Washington, D.C. area, including northern Virginia. The program is designed to encourage and support post-baccalaureate nursing careers, as well as offer direct financial assistance to nursing students as they transition from the classroom into the professional workplace. Qualified students are offered educational scholarships of $2,500 to $5,500 during the senior year of their Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
Under the direction of the School of Nursing faculty, each Clinical Scholar is assigned to a clinical practicum of her/his choice at a participating health care institution. This practicum assignment is made in connection with the student's enrollment in the Clinical Emphasis Practicum course, Nurs 487. Upon successful completion of the practicum and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, each Clinical Scholar is offered employment at the participating institution which has provided the Clinical Scholarship support. Every effort is made to match a Scholar's clinical area preference and specific practicum experience with his/her desired job placement.
