What is a UMnet Account?
A UMnet account provides access to a number of online library resources, including full text of journals, database searches, and electronic textbooks. Your UMnet account also allows you to:
- Login to web-based or web-enhanced courses in Blackboard
- Send and receive e-mail via the UMnet e-mail system
In addition, your instructor might also put course materials on electronic reserves. These are readings and other materials that are specific to your course. You will access these resources with your UMnet User ID and a password that is specific to your course. To access these resources or to learn more about them, visit the Health Sciences and Human Services Library.
UMnet E-mail
Call the ASC Help Desk 410-706-HELP, Monday through Friday between 8am-5pm EST. If calling, you must be able to verify account information, including the secret word/phrase you included when you filled out your account application.
Access to HS/HSL Resources
Beginning 6.19.2006, you will be required to enter the 14 digit barcode, located on your UMB1 One Card ID, and your last name to access Library resources including e-journals, e-books and databases from offsite. UMnet accounts will no longer be used to access Library resources. With this new access method, no special proxy configuration is needed.
Current, complete information about the change is posted on the Library's web site.
Students must be enrolled in a credit course in order to have access to e-resources. Those enrolled in continuing education classes are not eligible.
