Gordon Han, Co-President
Han is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and expects to graduate in May 2014. He is planning to go into cardiovascular nursing after graduation. Han previously earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and has over three years of clinical research experience. Han is also involved with Universities at Shady Grove (USG) Student Council as well as a member of Priddy Library's advisory committee.
Natalie Colville, Co-President
Colville is a second semester nursing student. She has a Bachelor of Art degree in advertising from Marquette University and is originally from Davenport, Iowa.
Trish DeNardis, Co-Vice President
DeNardis is currently in her second semester of the nursing program. Her educational career includes: Mount de Sales Academy, Von Lee School for Aesthetics, and Carroll Community College. She has been a licensed esthetician for 5 years, was born in Virginia, and grew up in Maryland for the majority of her life.
Adrienne Zago, Co-Vice President
Adrienne Zago is a senior pursuing a BSN and expects to graduate in May 2014. She has a previous bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hood College in Frederick, Md. She currently works part-time as a patient care technician at Suburban Hospital.
Anastasia Valentino, Co-Secretary
Anastasia Valentino is the first secretary for UMANS. She plans to graduate in December 2013 with a BSN from UMSON at Shady Grove. Valentino also serves as the president of Maryland Association of Nursing Students (2013-2014) and sits on a national committee for NSNA. As representative of the national committee, Valentino also serves the council of state presidents planning committee, the student representative for Maryland Action Coalition, the steering committee, and the communications committee.
Currently, she works as a patient care technician in the ICU at Suburban Hospital and is planning on pursuing a career in critical care upon graduation. In her spare time outside of school she has been a Sunday school teacher, a youth leader with Youth for Christ, and worked as an assistant in special education therapy.
Deonne Wollman, Co-Secretary
Deonne Wollman is a third semester BSN student at UMSON at Shady Grove. She holds a prior BA degree in psychology from McDaniel College and is pursuing the nursing profession as a second career following a 20-year career as a business leader specializing in human resources and employee safety management for a large, local landscape contracting firm. In her previous career, she held many leadership roles within her employment and in the landscape industry, serving as board member and president of the 250-member local landscape contractor volunteer association. Additionally, she served on various landscape-related committees on the national level.
Wollman's interest in nursing stems from her experience as a daughter of a type I diabeticand now a mother of a type I diabetic child. With her personal experience combined with her ongoing nursing education, she wishes to give back to the community by providing exceptional care for the critically ill and aspires to become a Certified Diabetes Educator in the future. Wollman is currently serving as the UMANS Secretary.
