A NIH funded postdoctoral position (Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent) is available immediately at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. The research focus is on neurotrophin modulation of the development and persistence of chronic pain. In relevant animal models in vivo and in vitro studies of pain phenotype will be a primary responsibility. Therefore, mouse nocifensive behavioral testing, extracellular electrophysiological recording and experience with knockout and transgenic strains of mice would be a benefit. Across mouse and human tissue samples, assisting in microarray and sequencing studies will be a secondary responsibility. In support of this work, experience processing tissue, isolating RNA and basic/advanced bioinformatics experience is preferred.
