The Komen Maryland Affiliate Nursing Partnership: Advancing Education and Practice is an expert-driven, efficient and effective strategy to bring breast cancer information into the nursing curriculum.
The aim of the grant is to heighten the awareness, knowledge and skills of faculty, students, practicing nurses and community members about the prevention and detection of breast cancer and the treatment options for people with breast cancer. The grant uses five interrelated components: the Komen Visiting Professor, the Komen Scholar-in-Residence, the Komen Distinguished Lectureship, the Komen Conferees, and the Komen Educational Outreach.
We are pleased to announce that we will now be partnering with Coppin State University to bring this vital breast cancer education to their nursing students. Also, because breast cancer is a complex disease whose treatment demands the support of a multidisciplinary host of health care professionals, we are delighted to expand our activities to include the University of Maryland School of Social Work.
