OBSTACLES TO BREAST CARE ACROSS CULTURES:
NURSE-LED SOLUTIONS
Komen Distinguished Lecture by Dr. Karen Meneses
Tuesday, March 4, 2008
4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Globally, as well as nationally, cultural factors influence the prevention, detection, and treatment of breast cancer, often with tragic consequences. The good news is that nurses can be instrumental in breaking the resulting cycle of disparity and access to care.
Dr. Meneses will examine cultural barriers to breast care, as well as the critical educational and practice models that nurses and other health care providers have implemented to shift the paradigm.
It is vital for all nurses to have an understanding of this issue in order to become part of the solution.
