Office of Research

The University of Maryland School of Nursing's Office of Research provides an organized infrastructure designed to support and facilitate research excellence and creates synergy between researchers and research efforts. The office provides technical advise to support the initial and ongoing sponsored research of faculty and graduate students, provides scientific overview of sponsored research proposals, identifies new sources of funding, and disseminates relevant research findings. The Office of Research is designed to strengthen and promote the work of School of Nursing researchers, while expanding collaborations between investigators on local, national and international levels. Expertise in experimental design, outcomes measurements, biostatistics, grants and contracts, and regulatory management is available through the Office of Research.

The Office of Research and the School of Nursing's top administrators work together to encourage young faculty to conduct research by administering state monies to fund pilot studies. The Designated Research Initiative Fund (DRIF) provides opportunities for strengthening scholarly and research endeavors of the faculty. On an annual basis, proposals are solicited from faculty and funds awarded on a competitive basis after peer review.
