Responding to Hurricane Katrina

ABC News stillThe Wellmobile team has settled into the community of Brookhaven, Miss. They are seeing about 200 patients per day. They are working closely with the American Red Cross and community leadership to address the most urgent needs. They are seeing respiratory and GI related illness along with people with chronic illnesses who don’t have access to their medications or regular providers.

Camp Wellmobile has become the home away from home for all as the share living, eating in their little camp site along side of the local shelter. It has been a week since they left and they are busy as ever filling many needs including helping organize the large public health initiative across the entire community of victims and locals to receive necessary vaccines.

Assisting Displaced Nursing Students

The School of Nursing is working with two nursing students from Louisiana where Schools have been closed due to Hurricane Katrina. These students are from Charity School of Nursing and Southern University. We will consider admission to our program or assist displaced nursing students in locating local colleges and universities if they need to complete general education pre-requisites. In addition, the application fee to our program will be waived. We are committed to helping nursing students complete their professional studies and look forward to facilitating their progress.

Our Admission Office can be reached at 410-706-0501 for further information and assistance.
