Organizational Partnerships, Outreach and Clinical Enterprise
Organizational Partnerships, Outreach and Clinical Enterprise (OPO & CE) is a unique and dynamic entity within the school of nursing. The department mission is to advance the education, research and practice of the School’s faculty and students as well as to serve the School’s alumni and other healthcare professionals with lifelong learning opportunities. The scope of this department includes:
- Establishing strategic partnership initiatives that include hospital systems, health care information technology companies, biotechnology organizations, research firms, other universities and colleges and professional specialty organizations.
- Creating innovative and timely professional development and continuing education programs.
- Administrating and developing the School’s satellite campuses at the Universities of Shady Grove. For more information on academic programs offered in collaboration with Shady Grove, please see our Programs at Shady Grove.
- Administrating and developing the School’s outreach sites including the Area Healthcare Education Centers (AHEC) including Cumberland AHEC and the Eastern Shore AHEC.
- Developing and maintaining stimulating faculty practices and research partnerships.
- Providing primary care services to the underserved in the state of Maryland through the School’s clinical enterprises in the School Wellness Program, Pediatric Ambulatory Care Center, and the Governor’s Wellmobile Program.
- Providing legal and contractual services to the School.
The positive synergy of these offices and services creates and stimulates innovative initiatives between the interests and priorities that support the school’s strategic plan, further strategic partnerships, and aid in the development of market-driven programs. All initiatives serve to reinforce and advance the School’s role as a leader in the nursing profession.
