Alumni Association

Organized by the Class of 1895, the University of Maryland School of Nursing Alumni Association is the oldest continuously active nursing alumni association in the United States. The purpose of the Alumni Association is to unite all graduates of the School of Nursing, and to support the students and faculty in advancing the School and its mission. Members of the Alumni Association advocate for public and private support for the benefit of the School of Nursing, and provide educational, charitable and cultural activities for the benefit of School of Nursing alumni, students and friends.

As an all-inclusive membership organization, any person who has received a diploma, a baccalaureate degree, or a graduate degree from the School is automatically a member of the Alumni Association. There is no membership fee!

Awards Committee

The Awards Committee sets criteria and selects candidates for Alumni Association Student Scholarship Awards and other awards as necessary.

Fellowship Committee

The Fellowship Committee maintains contact and promotes good will among members of the Heritage Classes (graduates of 50 years or more).

Fund Raising Committee

The Fund Raising Committee investigates and implements fund raising programs for the purpose of supporting the School of Nursing, and Alumni Association scholarships, events and programs (e.g. reunions, lectures, guest speakers, panel discussions, mentoring projects, receptions).

Reunion Committee

The Reunion Committee plans the annual Alumni Heritage Celebration and Reunion and its activities and encourages broad alumni participation.

Living History Museum

One of the only nursing museums in the nation, the Living History Museum preserves and exhibits nursing artifacts and introduces students to the history of their profession. Nearly 30 alumni volunteers and retired faculty members serve as docents to keep the museum open to students and the public. More volunteers are needed!
