Here are some examples from UMSON students:

"Almost eight years after spending four weeks in the hospital for brain surgery and meningitis, I still remember every little thing a nurse did for me. Through nursing, she was able to have an incredible impact on a young girl and change her life. If I can half the impact on a child by being a nurse, I would consider my life fulfilling and rewarding."
"Nurses are exemplary beings that remind me that there are selfless people out there who are willing to do what it takes to comfort others in their time of need."
"In July of 2011, my husband was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and eight months later, he died. Until this experience, I never appreciated just how influential and invaluable nurses are to families in need. I want to help families in their darkest times, just as those wonderful nurses helped us."
"Facing the realities of a global crisis in person confirmed my desire to pursue nursing: Life is not about me. Life is about other people."
"I want to be a nurse because I believe it is built within me to care. I want to be able to help save people’s lives and comfort those in need."
