Accessibility

The School of Nursing is committed to making the information and resources that it provides via the web accessible to all users. We aim to be standards compliant and follow general principles of usability and universal design, which should help all visitors to this Web site. By using techniques to help users of assistive and adaptive technologies, we have provided one version of the site which everyone should be able to use.

This central site for SON is intended to meet the W3C's Website Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Guidelines. For more information about the WAI Guidelines see: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0

Through taking this approach we hope to make our site as inclusive as possible, and also to comply with US federal standards, including Section 508 requires that Federal agencies' electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities.

We have also provided an automatically generated text-only version of the site, which is available for people using non-traditional devices, such as screen readers.

Within the next few months we plan on publishing a version of the site for use by non-traditional devices, such as cellphones and PDAs.

Access Keys and Tab Indexing

Access keys are keyboard shortcuts intended to help users who have difficulty in using pointing devices such as a mouse. Windows users can navigate with the accesskey feature by typing "ALT + Accesskey." Mac users would use "CTRL + Accesskey." Internet Explorer users may also need to press the "ENTER" key to activate the link.

Tab indexing is designed to make tabbing through the site easier but also to provide users with access to the Web site by using the keyboard only. To activate the link, "TAB" the select times and use the "ENTER" key on your keyboard. This shortcut, like the access key, will take you directly to the link or page content.

Access Key and Tab Index Shortcuts are allocated as follows:
