Call for Posters



LONG WORKING HOURS, SAFETY, AND HEALTH:
TOWARD A NATIONAL RESEARCH AGENDA

The purpose of this workshop is to share information across disciplines about current knowledge, key information gaps, and interventions in progress to define research questions and inform the development of a national research agenda on long hours of works and extended work schedules. To accomplish this, there will be sessions consisting of overview talks by invited speakers to address the current state of knowledge about who is working extended work schedules and why, the safety and health effects of working long hours, and current organizational responses, including case studies. Breakout sessions will provide an opportunity for participants to contribute to specific areas of the research agenda.


Researchers, policy makers, and health and safety specialists doing work in this field are invited to submit abstracts for posters that will be displayed at the workshop. Authors will answer questions about their posters during a Poster Session and evening reception.


Posters may present information on a wide range of issues pertaining to long hours of work and extended work schedules, including planned research, research results, descriptions of organizational activities, issues that arise from field experience, current policies/recommendations or proposed policies. Abstracts should be limited to 250 words (excluding authors names and contact information) or less and must be received by February 20, 2004. Each abstract’s Corresponding Author will be notified of acceptance by email by March 5, 2004.

Detailed instructions for preparing poster abstracts

Please read these instructions carefully for preparing your abstract. These instructions describe and illustrate the format for this abstract. Abstracts must be typed in English. Page size is 8.5 inches by 11 inches. Use one inch margins at top, bottom, and both sides. The text should be single-spaced and written in the Times New Roman font (or Times font). All the text should be prepared in one column layout. In general, no underlining should be carried out. Footnotes should be avoided. Use the following point size and line spacing:

  • Title: 12-pt characters, bold, full center;
  • Author name(s) and affiliation (s): 12-pt characters, full center (author SURNAME(s) in capital letters and affiliations(s) in italic form);
  • Text: 12-pt characters.

Leave two blank lines above the title and leave two blank lines between the title and the name(s) of the author(s). Omit degrees or titles. Immediately under the name(s), affiliation(s) including city name should be given. Limit text of abstract to 250 words; this limit does not include the title, authors, and affiliations.
