About the Department

The Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health provides coursework at the bachelor's, masters and doctoral level. Baccalaureate students may select the traditional option, the second degree option that leads to an MS, RN to BSN in the classroom or online or the RN to MS option. Currently, our RN to BSN program is entirely online for those registered nurses from associate degree programs, diploma nurses who graduated more than seven years ago, and nurses who graduated from non-NLNAC-accredited out-of-state programs.
For clinical experience, students are placed in excellent health care facilities throughout the Baltimore-Washington DC area. Students also have opportunities for learning in our state-of-art patient simulation laboratories and through standardized patient learning experiences.
Master's students may specialize in anesthesia, Health Services Leadership & Management including MS/JD, MS/JD, MS/Informatics, MS/Managed Care administration/business administration (MS/MBA), informatics, Clinical Research Management, or select one of our nurse practitioner roles including adult primary care, gerontology, oncology, or a combined critical care trauma and emergency nursing clinical nurse specialist (CNS) with the acute care nurse practitioner. Students interested in oncology have a choice of three nurse practitioner programs including adult primary care, acute care or gerontology to produce a blended role (CNS/NP).
Post master's study is offered in all the nurse practitioner specialty areas, including administration, and informatics. Dual degrees are available in administration and informatics, and administration/business administration.
In our Teaching in Nursing and Health Professions program, students who have the desire to develop expert content knowledge and skill as educators can receive a certificate in nursing and health professions education.
