Tuition Remission for UMMC Nurses

All Medical Center regular full-time (working 36 or more hours per week) employees are eligible to receive tuition remission up to $6,000 per calendar year for undergraduate tuition and fees and up to $10,000 per calendar year for graduate tuition and fees for courses taken at the University of Maryland. All Medical Center regular part-time (working a minimum of 20 hours per week) employees are eligible for a prorated amount.

Eligibility

  • All Medical Center regular full-time (working 36 or more hours per week) employees are eligible for up to the full amount of the tuition remission. All Medical Center regular part-time (working a minimum of 20 hours per week) employees are eligible for a prorated amount.
  • Only courses that begin after the employee's date of hire are eligible for this program.
  • Employees applying for the School of Nursing Professional Advancement Program must be performing satisfactorily in their position (achieves standards or exceeds standards on their performance appraisal) and be in good standing in terms of continued future employment with the Medical Center.
  • A new employee is eligible to participate in the School of Nursing Professional Advancement Program after six months and must have successfully completed the required initial period. Their initial review must be on file to participate in the School of Nursing Professional Advancement Program
  • Employees must have current license/certification on file if required for their current position.

Courses Eligible for the School of Nursing Professional Advancement Program

  • Only courses taken at the University of Maryland School of Nursing are covered by this benefit.
  • Courses must be credit courses necessary to meet the requirements of a nursing degree program.
  • Dual programs that require courses to be taken at the University of Baltimore must be paid by the student and reimbursed at the end of the semester.
