Leadership Development Program

The yearlong Leadership Development Program (LDP) prepares nurses to assume leadership positions and participate as full partners in developing health care delivery models that improve health outcomes for Maryland residents. Nurses selected for this program demonstrate the leadership potential needed for this challenge.

As an NLI Fellow, you will:

• develop your personal strengths, identify and strengthen your leadership competencies, and create a plan for continued leadership development
• work on a leadership collaboration activity that translates your skills into action
• earn Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) contact hours.

The program includes:

• self-assessments with professional coaching
• on-site sessions and a residential, intensive leadership training program
• one-on-one mentorship
• individual check-ins and follow up with expert coaches
• a leadership collaboration activity.

Each year, the program offers grant-funded support for up to 40 Maryland nurses.

How to Start:

Applicants are selected from academia and practice. One important goal of this program is to facilitate collaboration between nurses in education, research, and practice. These collaborations will shape effective strategies that:

1. prepare nurses for roles within a dynamic and complex health care system
2. improve delivery of health care services across the continuum of care that spans acute, long term, community, and home based settings.
