The Debra L. Spunt Clinical Simulation Labs

Students working in the CSL

The Debra L Spunt Clinical Simulation Laboratories (CSL) provide health professions students and practitioners the opportunity to develop skills and competencies in a controlled environment. Students and practitioners enhance their abilities through clinical case scenarios, faculty guidance, and resources that facilitate the development of clinical judgment.

The 24 labs are designed to replicate realistic practice settings, including basic hospital, critical care, surgical/operating room, pediatrics, neonatal maternity, home care, and health assessment settings. Multiple simulators are used, which range from simple anatomical models to complex human patient simulators.

The Universities at Shady Grove operate six interdisciplinary CSLs. Each of these has a multi-focus lab, which is designed to replicate multiple clinical settings in one lab in addition to the health assessment lab.

Scheduled classes meet in the CSLs, and labs provide flexible time slots five days a week for student practice and tutoring.
